April Eclipses
By Dulce Bell-Bulley
At this writing we are between two eclipse periods. One occurred April 8th, and the other one will be on April 24th. Eclipses are doorways, windows between worlds and levels of experience. Thanks to this month’s first eclipse we’ve seen enormous changes in the world’s hierarchy, and it’s not over yet.
The Pope was buried on an eclipse. Prince Charles married Camilla, the day after the eclipse. In 1997 Princess Diana died two days before an eclipse. John Kennedy Jr. died in an eclipse month. There are numerous deaths, births and marriages of the world’s famous folk (including the most recent Pope and JFK) that occurred within days and weeks of eclipses.
Eclipses occur in cycles, each one looping through the other to create a cycle of experience until resolution and success occurs. All types of solar eclipses are accompanied two weeks later by some kind of lunar eclipse.
Eclipses that are separated by an 18-year cycle are part of a saros series, which basically means they repeat themselves at the same points in time, every 18 years. A single saros series spans over 1,200 years and includes between 68 and 75 solar eclipses. The ancient Chaldeans observed this phenomenon and we continue to add to their data.
This current cycle we’re in is saros series number 151. It began with a partial solar eclipse in June 1928 and will end in 3190. In the mean time, another saros series starts up in July 2011. These overlaps in saros cycles are exciting and can cause some confusion.
But there’s a much closer eclipse occurring this Sunday April 24th. This is the second eclipse of this month. This eclipse point of four degrees Scorpio/Taurus was triggered 18 years ago and in October of last year. Think back to what you were doing then. This lunar eclipse focuses on the same issues as last October’s but from the exact opposite perspective. It prods us to face our deepest fears and our deepest desires. By doing so we’re able to identify blocks to our success. Having done that, we are then in a position to release those blocks. This is tough work and might hurt a little, but the relief will be enormous. It’s time to move on, unencumbered by our own foolishness.
On a global level, earth changes are possible, especially as the Moon connects with erratic Uranus. Earth issues, highlighted by Earth Day and the Sun and Venus in Taurus, are of paramount importance. Nationally, the personal affairs of people in high places (possibly government officials) become public knowledge. There’s a lot we don’t know. Talks continue behind closed doors as important people defend their positions. Everything looks good, but we know something’s wrong. Big money is at stake. So are environmental concerns. The question looks like this: Would you like a big wad of money to spend at the mall; or would you prefer to hike in pristine wilderness?
This eclipse is a big cleanse. If you don’t like what you see, head to a river or a lake. Immerse yourself in water. This eclipse belongs to the water sign of Scorpio and only water can make this better.
