Greetings Aries.
And what a fine month it is for introductions. Old Self, meet
New Self. New Self, meet Old Friend. Old Friend, well you get
the idea. What we’re looking for here with the October 7 Libra
new moon and the October 22 Aries full moon is an effort to see
ourselves in a whole new light, perhaps one with a little more
shadow, a little more depth of perception. Such mirrors do
exist.
While traveling in southwest England last spring, I toured one
of those nouveau castles. In the master boudoir, I turned to
find myself gazing into the next room where a person who looked
startlingly like myself was staring back. Perception is a tricky
thing—I nearly lost my balance when I realized that was a mirror
and not an open doorway. Never have I seen such a high grade,
almost frighteningly reflective glass. The intense
dimensionality was beyond HD. So Aries, imagine this—there is an
Other Self in the looking glass you have never seen so clearly.
This is your October gift to yourself during your “Half” Solar
Return. With Venus going retrograde on October 8 in
Scorpio/Libra the goddess of earthly delights slips out of her
old skin and like Innana or Isis or Persephone, goes underground
to confront her Shadow. Here is a brilliant opportunity to face
your personal relationship quicksand and emerge, come November,
on newly solid ground. By the November 21 Taurus full moon and
Thanksgiving week, you will have much to give thanks for, not
the least of which is this gleaming new sense of possibility.

Taurus.
The month of October promises many of your basic joys in life.
Oktoberfest! When was the last time you donned your lederhosen
and stomped around the biergarten to an oom pa pa beat with a
hearty brew in hand? Please put this on your agenda for the
month. That, and bake yourself a fresh apple pie with plenty of
butter, cream and cinnamon.
Simple pleasures are sure to help ground you as Venus, your
planetary ruler, begins her descent into the underworld on
October 8. It may feel as though you are stuck in an elevator
where only the down button works. But then every once in a while
it is a very good practice to go poke around in that Basement.
What have you forgotten or abandoned to the mice and spiders
down there? Pack your flashlight and a little snack (a slice of
that apple pie?) and be prepared to discover some secret
valuables from your past.
If you’ll apply yourself to this mysterious mission for the new
few weeks, I think that you will be well-surprised and pleased
with what comes to light the weekend of October 23-24. This
treasure you’ve freed from your past is actually a totem, a
sacred object that will require your care and concern. It needs
restoring, updating, a new and current meaning for your life.
Continue this process through the Scorpio new moon on November
5. By the Taurus full moon on November 21st you will find you
have much to be grateful for.

Greetings Gemini.
This October begins on a wing and a prayer. As I sit and write
in my still-green and flowering front garden under an autumn
sun, I watch our small town commuter flight climb toward the
Rockies, headed northeast for Denver. Just beneath the plane a
great black raven follows in its wake like a living shadow.
There, I think, goes the Gemini spirit this month, raising your
sights and then following in your own footprints.
Such is your
potential as the Libra new moon approaches on October 7. If
relationships get rocky, do not be daunted. Push on through with
what you know to be the higher truth. It will set you free, and
this will become obvious if you do not waiver. With Venus,
mistress of discerning wisdom, in the underworld (retrograde
from Oct 8-Nov 14), your journey is well-guided. The full moon
on October 22 will shed light on these issues and they will grow
even more clear the week of the 24th.
Expect some fabulously bright ideas to light up your world with
the November 5 Scorpio new moon. Imagine draping yourself in
garlands of Christmas lights from the past. These are not just
nostalgic burps, these are full fledged yawps from the Eurekan
Baths! Immerse yourself in these surprising new thought-feelings
and you may be inspired to plan some very interesting holiday
parties, soirees, dinner dates for Thanksgiving week. Try mixing
and matching unexpected food, friends, places and times. Like
the Raven and the Turbo-prop, who knows where these strange
pairings might go?

Cancer

Cancer.
First of all, let me say that my hat (if I ever wore one) is off
to you this year. I have a sense that your cross to bear of late
has been inordinately heavy, like the Global Lynch Pin, like
Atlas holding the rest of us aloft. Cancer is the liquid silver
thread by which we all hang, strung from the shifting light of
the moon.
You are the Sacred Scapegoat who is sacrificed so that those who
come after may carry on. It is the domain of Cancer—home and
security and Mom’s (Great Mother’s) protection, the comfort of
personal history—that is bearing the brunt of the Great Shift
Dulce describes in her Cosmic Weather this month. And it is
THROUGH your shifting concept of personal domain, through your
intimate connection with the natural rhythms of Moon & Earth,
Mother & Child, Eddy & Flow, that we will find our way Home
again. So, as the sharp angles of challenge and change square
and oppose themselves against your Emotional Genius, draw on
that inner strength that is yours and yours alone.
Allow your deepest truth to guide you through the months ahead.
The new and full moons of October carry this refrain for you, as
does Venus’s retrograde sojourn back into Libra. In late October
and through November’s new and full moons, the strength of your
emotional integrity will help shore up some of the 2010‘s

Leo

Greetings Leo,
I realize this time of year can feel a bit winsome. As the
(northern hemisphere) Sun begins to wane, so might your
summertime ebullience. But this October you would do well to
notice the friends and colleagues who define your inner circle.
Through the full moon of October 22, the Libran panoply of
energies provide you with ready access to this fair-minded
support. Use it! Your friends will appreciate being appreciated!
That said,
you may also notice a number of red flags being thrown on your
intimate relationships field. Whether “Foul!” is being called on
or by you, the message is the same—change it or lose it.
November brings you a very special opportunity to shift the way
your heart channels its emotional flow. Tune in to that great
heart muscle AND its chakra subtle energies. Feel the
constricted points, breathe into them. Exhale the knots. Keep at
it, notice how each inhalation naturally expands your heart
chamber. Send the tensions straight down into the earth’s core.
No need to analyze it all, just feel the flow shifting.
There will be
obvious and not so obvious energetic assists with this process
around the November 5 Scorpio new moon. As the moon waxes,

Virgo.
Looks like a stretch of clear skies for you as this month
unfurls its fair-minded flags. That is, if you are willing to
take a bit of a breather! Our October 7 Libra new moon finds
your Mercury ruler conjunct Saturn, Sun and Moon—a grand day, if
you opt in, to imagine freeing new ways and means. This of
course requires suspending the limited old ways, if only for 24
hours.
As Venus turns retrograde just after the new moon, your little
hiatus might feel a bit more weighty than you’d like. But
honoring the Goddess’s descent can actually be a boon to your
efforts. Virgo, after all, is not just the fastidious and
even-tempered bean counter. In tandem with your Pisces
complement, Virgo is the most crucial component of our deepest
human mystery—showing us how the immortal Spirit can be
manifested in the everyday world. Recognizing the deeper meaning
of this upcoming Venus retrograde, you receive an opportunity to
connect with your own creative depths. You will then retrieve,
as Venus reemerges in November, new insights and clarity.
By the Oct 22 full moon, Mercury has moved into Scorpio joining
Mars, Venus, and on Oct 23, the Sun. This Scorpio stellium can
also help boost your energy and perspective, Virgo. There is a
melding of vision and intention--there are many many, ways to
accomplish whatever is at hand. Open yourself to them! These
insights continue right through the Scorpio new moon on Nov 5
and by the full moon of Nov 21--Thanksgiving week--your
sensitized perceptions are going to be humming along like a
fine-tuned Dremel.

Libra

Greetings Libra.
And solar blessings to you as the Sun makes its way through your
fair skies. You’ve got a full house on the Libran new moon
October 7, with Saturn comfortably lodged for the next couple
years and Mercury (who can feel like a crowd all on his own)
winging through as the moon waxes.
Even your beloved Venus returns for a spell with the Scorpio new
moon Nov 5th and she sticks around for most November. So what’s
a person to do with all this hubbub—it’s not like you aren’t
already a bit stretched. What with Pluto’s bite locked onto your
pants leg like a relentless chow and Jupiter and Uranus
breathing fire down your neck…. On the other hand, there is that
mysterious and healing balmy fragrance that keeps wafting your
way from Neptune and Chiron in Aquarius, if only you could
bottle it, you’d make a fortune… Perhaps you can invite your
ruler Venus, as she descends into Pluto’s realm, to petition him
on your behalf with that request. She reemerges on November 18,
going direct the same day as beneficent Jupiter just before the
full moon on Nov 21.
These are potent visualization times indeed Libra! Use these
months wisely, as only you can. Consider the homeopathic
approach: like cures like. 1) Define what ails you. 2) Give
descending Venus your prescription 3) Thank her in advance for
the healing, blessings, and bounty you will receive with the

Scorpio

Greetings Scorpio.
And welcome to your own personal “Imaginarium of Dr. Pluto.” If
you haven’t seen The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
featuring Heath Ledger’s last appearance, please rent it! In
this fantastical mystery-spoof (yes, it’s a category-buster),
folks are given an irresistible opportunity to take a magical
mystery tour and confront their true natures—will they choose
light and joy or darkness and gloom? So too, the months of
October and November present you Scorpio with this double-door
option.
Remember, there is no right answer, only what’s right for you at
this time.
In early
October we find Mars (your traditional ruler) and Venus (in her
Vampire guise) embracing in Scorpio. Where is your Passion? Grab
hold of it this first week of October because after the new moon
on the 7th your beautiful seductress is going retrograde,
retreating down into the underworld. It’s likely you’re going to
follow that obsession down, but here’s where that passionate
choice comes in—with what intention will you do so?
Pay attention
as the moon waxes (full on October 23). Those of you born
October 23-31 will be blessed with a solar return Pluto sextile
your natal Sun. Pluto, your planetary ruler, is like your old
high school buddy for the year ahead—all the more reason to have
your principles and intentions in good order. Both Venus and
Jupiter turn direct November 18 and the Sun ends its Scorpio
journey by the light of a full moon on November 21. Herein is
the grace to make eleventh hour decisions that may foster your
deepest work through 2011. No pressure!

Sagittarius

Greetings Sagittarius.
It seems your ventures have been mostly virtual, on hiatus, or
by proxy these last months, but hang in there Sadge, all that
inspirational research has not been for naught. Momentum is
building throughout October as the Libran new moon (Oct 7)
accompanied by Mercury and Saturn fans your embers.
Even the
descent of the Goddess, as Venus turns retrograde on Oct 8,
provides grist for your mill—Now where is She off to? Can I go
too? But it is after the Oct 22 full moon, when Mars launches
himself solo into Sagittarius that fresh energies really begin
to charge your libido. And certainly Neptune going direct with
the Scorpio new moon on Nov 5 is a nice touch, but here we go,
it is the waxing moon phase through mid-November that really
changes the channel for you Sagittarius. No more staying up late
watching re-runs of Bridget’s Sexiest Beaches.
Both your magnanimous ruler Jupiter and our pent-up Venus turn
direct on Nov 18 (followed by the release of Harry Potter and
the Deathly Hallows Part 1 on Nov 19!). Thank Zeus Almighty—I’m
free at last! is the joyful cry heard from your slice of the
zodiac all around the world as your vigil ends and the Sun dawns
in Sagittarius on November 23, just 24 hours after the full
moon. Let there be dancing in the streets this Thanksgiving
week, and please, don’t forget to do that, big time. Give
Thanks.

Capricorn

Greetings Capricorn.
Have you heard the latest Dead Sea Scrolls translation? “And
blessed are the tough nuts to crack for they shall feed the
multitudes…” No offense meant, but Plutonic intonation,
definitely. By now, you’ve all had a good taste of Pluto’s dark
side, but hey, he can sure make Saturn look like your fairy
godmother, no? Well, with a good thirteen years of Pluto in
Capricorn left on the clock, a healthy sense of humor is going
to be a life saver, so maybe you want to start working on that
comedy club act soon?
Meanwhile,
let’s look at what October has on tap for you. Five days after
the Oct 7 new moon (which may feel like your moving walkway just
took an unexpected left turn), Ceres, the dwarf planet of Nature
& Nurture’s cycles, slips quietly into Capricorn. In the Greek
pantheon, Ceres was Demeter, mother of Persephone, she who was
abducted by Pluto, god of the Underworld. It was Demeter who
caused the crops to stop growing as she lamented the loss of her
daughter, thereby threatening the world with starvation.
Eventually Demeter/Ceres had to compromise with Pluto and share
her beloved daughter for half the year, which became the earth’s
fallow time, winter.
This story of
the Goddess’s descent also resonates in Venus’s turning
retrograde on October 8. So I would ask you, Capricorn, O Winter
One, to honor that which seems to want to go dormant, quiet,
fallow, during October and November. Give it a rest! There is
more at stake here than you may realize as the Moon’s nodal axis
aligns with both Ceres and Pluto at the Oct 22 full moon, and
remains conjunct Pluto throughout 2010. Cut yourself some slack
for the next few months and check back in with the Winter
Solstice Lunar Eclipse first day of Capricorn on December 21.
After that we may need to start figuring out how to feed a few
people.

Aquarius

Greetings
Aquarius.
So! How’s it going these days O Eclectic One? Certainly there is
a copasetic potpourri of energies flowing your way. How are you
working with that flow, or lack thereof? Attuning to the higher
octave throughout October should be a breeze. The Oct 7 new moon
is a refreshing waft of Autumnal Airs, infusing your natural
heady state with new and quite workable ideas, concepts,
possibilities. As Venus turns retrograde the following day,
questions may arise about WHY these fresh ideas are of value at
this time—this is good! Go with whatever issues the descending
Goddess brings to your attention, because when she turns direct
on Nov 18, she will make an exact, highly creative link with
your ruler Uranus.
Meanwhile, give a good close listen to your feelings on Oct 15
and 16 as the Moon travels through Aquarius. The Nov 5 Scorpio
new moon may also drop a long-anticipated piece of the puzzle
into place for you as Chiron goes direct at 26 Aquarius.
On the 7th of November, Neptune follows suit and changes course
at nearly 26 Aquarius as well. Presto Change-Oh! Energies
release and it’s a great time for your by now well-considered
action. The waxing moon phase brings two more dynamic shifts as
both Venus and Jupiter both go direct on the 18th. Thanksgiving
week, beginning with the full moon on Nov 21 looks like a lovely
time for friends and family gatherings. You are the electric
life of the party so be sure to modulate that high voltage—not
everyone is feeling as charged as you Aquarius!

Pisces

Greetings
Pisces.
I take it there’s been a bit of excitement in your corner of the
Zodiac of late: are you up-are you down-are you good all around?
Considering the view from your October window, I am reminded of
this poem by Huai-nan-tzu:
Don’t be surprised,
Don’t be startled;
All things will arrange
Themselves.
Don’t cause a disturbance,
Don’t exert pressure;
All things will clarify
Themselves.
So while you await that clarity, I recommend a comfortable pose
of equanimity through the new moon on Oct 7 and the full moon on
Oct 22. Things begin to get very interesting on Nov 5 with the
new moon and Chiron’s turning direct at 26 Aquarius. On Nov 7
your natal ruler Neptune also turns direct at 26 Aquarius,
heading right for Pisces. Though he doesn’t arrive until Feb
2012, this once every 165 year event is certainly worth taking a
year to prepare for! Chiron reaches Pisces in Feb 2011, a worthy
harbinger of healing grace.
Both Venus
and Jupiter turn direct on Nov 18 as the moon waxes toward its
fullness on Nov 21. Soak up that flood of Jupiterian (your
traditional ruler) inspiration as he begins to wind down his
stay in Pisces. I have no doubt that the last weeks of November
hold some unexpected gifts, surprises, and adventures for you as
your Sagittarian cousin (you remember, the one who always got
you into such gleeful trouble as a kid?) appears on the scene.
