Dear Ones,
An interesting thing happened to me today. I saw my demon.
I’m writing about it now, because it’s November — Scorpio season, the month for demon discovery. I know Halloween is in the rear-view mirror as you read this, but please consider that ghoulish holiday as just the beginning of the season of deep reveal.
Another thing that recently happened to me, is that I found a short story I wrote in my handbook of Erotica. Erotica is one of November’s themes too. November is about secretive secretions. Which really, is not a pleasant thought but… it’s as true as the presence of false thought forms, AKA demons.
Also, how can one go forward into the intensity of Scorpio’s passion without acknowledging the existential angst created by the violence and rage occurring between Israel and Hamas. It’s just too awful to contemplate, but alas, it’s here and we must face it. We face it by acknowledging our own demons instead of projecting them onto others. In this way we can be more self-accepting and have greater self-responsibility. This in turn leads to peace.
Before I get into November’s astrology let me spin you a little yarn to illustrate what “demons” are and how they work.
Imagine that there are three brothers. The youngest one is consumed with envy when he connects with other men. He doesn’t know why and it’s deeply disturbing to him. After much reflection, prayer, and inner work he discovers the envy he feels toward his brother is not his. It comes from his older brother who is highly competitive and wants to dominate everyone. Being just 11 months younger, our guy was raised in his brother’s thought field and came to be involved in his two older brothers’ contention and jealousy of one another. Relieved to finally make sense of the difficult emotions he’s been experiencing, our guy sets out to put the energy he’d been leaking as envy and bitterness, into noticing his own achievements and feeling good about himself. Finally, freed from a negative and false narrative, he turns his attention towards his own life and finds much to take care of.
That my friends, is how demons work and how to combat them. Are they really demons? Well, you decide for yourself. To me, trained in psychology and as a practicing psychotherapist, I consider them to be false narratives coupled with emotional content. They have enough emotional charge they drag you down and you actually believe them. Until you see them for what they are that is — illusions based on lies. Illusions that suck the life force from you and keep you down. That’s the power of this month. It gifts us with the ability to see that which has been holding us back, and then when the energy changes to Sagittarius, gives us wings and hope to become our authentic selves.
Keeping all of this in mind, let’s look at the month ahead:
November opens reverberating on the full Moon lunar eclipse that took place on October 28th. Big international ripples dealing with aggression and mental aberrations are highly possible. The sad senselessness of the current war and the dreadful fear it provokes, is felt around the world. And, at the same time, enormous changes are being made in people’s thoughts. Abundant Jupiter, a great wise presence, guides those who are willing, toward powerful new insights. A mental revolution is possible this month, probably because of our collective horror of the shadows we’re seeing. We’re so traumatized by them we actually begin to wonder why they are happening and we can refuse to participate.
So here goes…
The first week in November sees the eclipse fullness blessedly passing away. The largeness of the Jupiter energy has been and is almost gone. Whew!
November 3rd, gracious Venus traveling through careful Virgo opposes gentle Pisces. Forgiveness is a powerful practice now. Do it.
November 5th, the Sun opposes Jupiter – in the final Jupiter hurrah (at least this go round.) Also on this day, Saturn turns direct at the beginning of Pisces. Here’s your cue to return to, or if you’re already there, to deepen your connection to Spirit. There’s a long journey in front of you and you need all the help you can get.
Also, on the 5th and 6th, Mars and Chiron enter into a relationship that helps you make the adjustments you need to fix things. And Lord knows, there’s plenty to both heal and fix. Wounded men in particular need our prayers.
Tend to the details of your obligations and duties on the 6th, as the Moon opposes Saturn.
On the 7th, Mercury and Neptune kiss. It’s another opportunity for forgiveness and an even bigger one for love.
Early on the 8th, Venus leaves analytical Virgo for partnership-oriented Libra, beginning your annual opportunity for togetherness and diplomacy.
Very early on the 10th, Mercury leaves the heavy intensity of Scorpio for the light hopefulness of Sagittarius. It’s time to look at the vision for your life.
Please keep your wits about you from November 11th to the 13th, especially be mindful of what you’re thinking. Mars opposes Uranus during this period and that’s a cosmic recipe for caution. A lot of action can happen now. Keep your wits about you.
How appropriately ghoulish that the 13th is a Scorpio New Moon. It’s a Monday, not a Friday though. This is an interesting time. It’s the beginning of a new era but a lot of deep emotions and fear have to be worked through. With a conjunction with Mars and an opposition to wild Uranus, change is really possible. Even after great despair and rage, emotions can shift. Are you willing to do that?
The New Moon and its potentialities continue to ripple over the next few days. Stay the course, feel what it is that you’re starting.
The 16th through the 18th the traveling Moon helps you connect the dots and build the framework you need for your new reality, even though the structure may ask you to dig deep.
The 18th through the 20th, the Sun and Mars meet at 25° to 27° Scorpio. Again, another opportunity to dive deep into courage. Revenge belongs to God, remember, do not attempt to do it yourself. Mars is the warrior, and the Sun is the King. Can you feel your mastery over anger?
The morning of the 22nd, the Sun mercifully pulls away from Mars and enters cheery Sagittarius. The fire sign of Sagittarius reminds us that we are on a journey. That this is our one true life and we’re invited to live it as fully as we can.
Thanksgiving on the 23rd is a reminder not to take anything personally! The Moon connects with Chiron in Aries and helps you find newness in your identity.
The very next day, on the 24th, Mars leaves the intensity of Scorpio for the rhythm and blues of Sagittarius. At last, we’re making our way through the erotic juicy dynamism of the scorpion/eagle into the realm of the archer where our visions take flight. The Sun and Mars together square stern Saturn, a cosmic reminder to stick to the plan. Let your spirit guide your vision.
November 27th the Gemini Full Moon brings things to light. In typical twin fashion you may have several opinions on what is happening. Have fun and connect the dots. The next few days carry you on the breeze of hope and renewal. Your life can be renewed. The whole huge vision spreads before you as Mercury, ruler of the current Moon connects with the Galactic Center and shows you the bigger picture.
The month ends on a Cancer Moon. We’re back where we started – at home, with our emotions, doing our best to claim our own demons and subdue them with the light of understanding so that they dissolve and lose their power. And we move into ours, feeling the serenity and peace of love and truth.
Please remember, and this could be a universal truth – you matter, we’re all connected, earth is our home and love is our destination.

Dulce
