July is a month of caution. Mercury is retrograde from the 7th to the 31st and there are two eclipses this month. Eclipses act as bookends in the chapters of our lives and if you have a birthday on July 2nd or 16th (when these eclipses occur) your life may take a significant turn.
Mercury retrograde invites you to reflect and remember, especially as it traverses back from warm Leo through the watery and emotional terrain of Cancer. Retrograde periods are not good for new endeavors, final contracts or big purchases. Inevitably some little problem emerges later that upsets the whole enterprise. They are good for reflection and reorganizing.
The Sun is in gentle Cancer keeping your focus on home and family through to the 23rd. We’re going to need that water root through this time. There’s also a lot of Leo hot-headed competitiveness this month.
The month opens with a lot of celestial activity:
The 1st, active Mars leaves Cancer for fiery Leo adding a touch of boldness and courage to the next six weeks.
The 2nd seeds a gentle hope into the wellspring of your life with a New Moon Total Solar Eclipse at 10° Cancer. Allow yourself to replenish and renew at this auspicious time. This is an inner energy, not an outer one. Traverse the waters of your inner landscape with fun.
On the 3rd, finances stabilize and love dramas settle when loving Venus enters Cancer. This gentle energy carries you through the next four weeks and is an oasis in the rather rocky seas of this month.
July 4th is full of braggadocio and boasting as the Moon travels passed Mars and Mercury in confident Leo. Avoid fires and live drama. Be bold with your creativity instead.
Mercury turns retrograde on the 7th and over the next two days makes a conjunction with Mars. This looks and sounds like a lot of boasting and posturing. Political debates and grandstanding seem likely over the next several days. Be mindful of what you promise during this time and try to keep your aggression down.
The 9th could feel somber and restrained as the Sun opposes stern Saturn. Apply yourself to your discipline and get something done, even if it’s just incremental. A quiet day is recommended to avoid frustration and run-ins with authorities. There’s a strong connection to the transiting soul path at this time so whatever occurs may have lasting influence.
The 10th feels gentle and compassionate as the Sun and Neptune play kissy kissy. Write, draw, create. Consciously dream.
Be cautious on the 11th when Mars squares Uranus. It’s good energy for moving through difficult blocks but you need to stay mindful especially if using sharp objects, power tools, or while driving.
Emotional energy deepens and goes under cover with the Scorpio Moon during this time, lightening up when it enters Sagittarius on the 12th. Optimism abounds, especially on the 13th when you may want to do it all with a Moon/Jupiter connection.
The 13th and 14th could evoke some deep stirrings as the Sun opposes powerful Pluto. Pluto is always associated with shadow. Try not to project your dark side on someone else and be aware of when others are projecting upon you. Rather than getting into a power play, separate from the other and go inwards to contemplate. Projection is when a monkey poops in its hand and throws it at you. One word of advice: duck!
Take that advice to heart at the Capricorn Full Moon partial eclipse on the 15th. This looks somewhat somber to me folks. Venus and Saturn oppose each other near the nodal axis and Pluto’s not too far away. Be prudent. Take heart. Think confidently about re-structuring.
The government-type energy of the lunar eclipse lingers over the next few days as does loving Venus’s connection with stern Saturn and the north node. Love hurts sometimes. Love is also forever. Financial matters and the housing market may make the news.
On the 17th a sudden turn of events keeps things interesting as the Moon squares Uranus. While on the 18th Venus kisses Neptune. Dreams and love go hand in hand apparently. Your rosy-tinted glasses may come off later in the month but for now, enjoy.
Mercury re-enters emotional Cancer on the 19th and the next few days are full of memory and family as the Moon also visits water by passing through Pisces.
Communication of all kinds can be heart-felt on the 21st when the Sun and Mercury connect. Stay tuned to your feelings and the feelings of others but don’t walk on egg-shells. That’s impossible and you know it.
The Sun enters Leo, its most favorite sign of all, late on the 22nd (MT). Oh this feels so good after all the emotion and possible guilt of the past few weeks. Now comes your time to be a kid and have fun if you haven’t been doing so already.
The 24th is a lovely day! Be sure to fully enjoy it as Mercury and Venus connect and Mars and Jupiter resonate. Truth and love are inseparable.
This energy follows into the 25th and keeps on giving as Venus enters Leo on the 27th. Courage, creativity and love. Hmmm mmm.
A little overwhelm is possible on the 28th as the Moon and Jupiter wave to each other.
The month ends with a possible changing of the guard and a glorious New Moon. The Sun squares Uranus and things don’t feel as stable as they did. Allow change but don’t throw the baby out with the bath water. The Leo New Moon late on the 31st promises big love and glory. Be sure to enjoy yourself as you consider what would be best for your heart. Plant seeds of love and joy.
I’ll see you back here in August. In the meantime, enjoy the water.
